Program of Work Kickoff to be Held Feb. 3
Dr. John Petersen, President of the University of Tennessee will be the keynote speaker at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce's Annual Program of Work kickoff. The event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel, 215 S. Illinois Avenue, on Tuesday, February 3 at 7:30 a.m. The annual event marks the beginning of the Chamber's program year and all Chamber member representatives are encouraged to attend the breakfast. Cost is $20 per person and an RSVP is required.
2009 Chairman of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce Board Tom Hilton of Y-12 Federal Credit Union said, "We are really fortunate to have Dr. John Petersen be a part of our annual kickoff. This is already a big day for Chamber members, and to have Dr. Petersen here just adds to the excitement of the day."
The Chamber's Program of Work kickoff is held every year and marks the beginning of the Chamber's program year. During the meeting members of the Chamber's Executive Committee will share the Chamber's goals for the upcoming year, highlighting the new programs and offering information about existing programs. The Chamber's program focuses on six strategic program areas: Housing and Population; Community Image; Organizational Value; Retail; Job Creation and Capital Investment; and Political Action.
Also planned for the event will be recognition of key volunteers. As a membership organization, the Chamber of Commerce relies heavily upon the time, energy and talent of a host of volunteers.
Parker Hardy, President of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce said, "This annual event is when we see our largest infusion of volunteers to help the Chamber carry out its mission. We want anyone who is associated with an Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce member firm to come learn how they can support these initiatives that are so important to our community."
