The Oak Ridge Dogwood Trail officially opens on April 8th. The trail is in its 4th year as a part of the festival. The Oak Ridge Dogwood Trail runs up Louisiana Avenue from the Oak Ridge Turnpike, then west on West Outer Drive, to the end of Whippoorwill Drive and back down Wisconsin Avenue to the Oak Ridge Turnpike.
According to Homer Fisher of ORAU and Vice-chairman of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce's Image area, "The Oak Ridge Dogwood trail allows visitors from outside of Oak Ridge to have the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful yards and landscaping in the area. The residents along the trail take great pride in their yards and the natural beauty of the mature dogwoods just adds to the effect."
Mike Belbeck of Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and Vice-chairman of the Chamber's Housing and Population area said, "The Dogwood Trail is a great way for people who would not ordinarily drive through our neighborhoods to see what those of us who live here already know - that Oak Ridge is a truly wonderful place to live. And, those of us who do live here should take advantage of driving the trail to see what a treasure we have here in our own hometown."
